The traditional Indian wedding cards had a red string on the border of the card with the picture of the betel leaf and a picture or idol of Lord Ganesha placed on it in the center. Some cards had the picture of a palki and baraat in the center and Lord Ganesha engraved on the top. Green, red, orange, golden, saffron, yellow were the colors used in traditional Indian wedding cards.
The contemporary cards are made from handmade paper and are semicircular in shape. One can even opt for customized cards. Customized cards usually have the picture of bride and the groom displayed on the card. The contemporary cards use grey, silver, pink and blue colors for the background.
